The One with the Prediction

I just noticed that I wrote this review after World Cup 2006 Germany..

Excerpts :

Unlucky XI - Spain
Won their first 3 group matches, led against the Frenchs.. ended in the losing side after 2 late goals.. afterall if they won, I dont think they have much things to do against Brazil.. but watch them out in Euro 2008/ WC2010..

And indeed Spain won Euro 2008..

The One with a Datuk to be?

I went back from office yesterday and found Jr with his new toy.. Badminton rackets + a shuttle cock.. He waited for me to play with him..

Since it was still early for Berbuka, I gave it a try.. playing inside the house..

I served to him, but he miss hit it.. Then he took the shuttle cock, somehow he was like, threw it in the floor.. I was puzzled.. then he took it again and did the same thing.. as if he wanted to bounce the shuttle cock.. Finally he said to me.. “Look Daddy, I’m NADAL

:P

Ah silly me.. he never watch any badminton before.. but he is quite a big fan of tennis.. I just wondering, Malaysia has produced a world no 1 squash pro, also successful badminton players.. why not a tennis Ace? maybe someone can become a Datuk in the future..

However read this first.. excerpts from Wiki.. on Andre Agassi..

He called Agassi’s two older siblings “guinea pigs” in the development of his coaching techniques. He honed Andre’s eye-coordination when he was an infant by hanging tennis balls above his crib. He gave Agassi paddles and balloons when he was still in a high chair. When Agassi started playing tennis, his ball collection filled 60 garbage cans with 300 balls per can, and Agassi would hit 3,000–5,000 balls every day. When Andre was five years old, he was already practicing with pros such as Jimmy Connors and Roscoe Tanner.

The One With Zidane

Remember picture above? heh..

Last nite while i was watching football in full concentration, faeq craved for attention.. so cute he is in his spidey pyjamas but chelsea were 2-1 down to off-form tofees.. thus i practically ignored him..

Then he started to do the Zidane, headbutting my chest.. ahahahaahaha.. cutie pie.. i responded with asking help from mummy.. and he laughed.. do it once, sooooooo cute, i love you.. do it twice, still cute, do it once more, ok, daddy wanna watch the game, it’s 2-2 now..

Finally, he came with the ultimate plan.. he turned to my back and sent a hard headbutt to my backbone.. OUCHHHH!! TIME-OUT!! i handed him a red card and he had to stand in the corner.. but he sucessfully won my attention.. :P

hopefully he’ll be a fantastic footballer like zidane but less temper..

The One With The Game

I’m currently watching a handball match between Bahrain and Macau. Premelinary round of Doha 2006 Asian Game.. Bahrain is currently demolishing Macau in a very one-sided game.. Gosh I miss this game.. The last time I played this game was yearssss ago.. SUKMUM 2000.. I represented 7th college, beating then favourites 2nd college and won our SUKMUM championship medals, the second times in three years.. heh.. quite an achievement back then..

I started playing handball during primary years.. but really getting into the game more during the secondary years.. we had a great team in Form One.. unlike any other batches, we practically have our training almost everyday.. Led by captain, Dollah, keeper Moq who joined a bit later, Cikun, Izzy, Afza, Nageb, Kamil, Jimy, hang-out very well back then.. ‘Handball Klik’ they said.. Our coach.. Latok.. the Latok.. hahah.. (heard that he is now a teacher somewhere..)

Handball, is not a very famous game especially among Malaysian.. I know there’s some groups of people try to make this game to be more popular but it is still not widely accepted.. I dont know.. might be because Malaysian more interested in games using their foot or prefer to use their hand doing something else.. *wink*.. For me it is a very fun, tough and fast game.. and always be my favourite game..

ps: guys.. if you read this, may be we can organize a little friendly game during OB weekend.. haha.. i know.. with those big-bellies, it’ll be a bit harder to jump from the big D… :))

Congratulazione the Azzuris on winning the prestigious Cup for the 4th times.. Italy took home the cup after France’s striker Trezeguet slightly overhit his penalty to the crossbar while all the italians scored perfect 5 from the spot. Full time game ended with both teams scored a piece early in first half.. Zidane put Le Bleus in the lead with a suspense-chipped-penalty past Buffon, and Materazzi equalized 15 minutes later with a powerful header from a well-fed corner by Pirlo..

It was then a pretty one-sided game till the final 120 minutes when Italy switched to their Catanaccio style.. France played a fine game but failed to get a winner, quite affected when their trio Vierra, Zidane and Henry prematurely withdrawn.. A worst end for the Master Zidane whom played his final football game with a red card after headbutted Materazzi late in extra time..

Heh.. I dont care that much who won since I support both teams.. (hehe.. ) but disappointing Final when watching an anti-climax defending game by the Italians, after their brilliant 2-0 win over the home side, Germany.. I expected a more open game after the first 20 minutes.. Well that’s football..

FIFA Worldcup 2006 awards :

Best game - Germany vs Italy (semi final 1) :
I’ve added this to my can-watch-over-and-over-again collections.. credit to Pirlo with his triple A rated assist for Grosso and rock-solid defending by Cannavaro intercepted German passes which one also led to a salt-on-the-wound goal by Del Piero..

Best Player (overall) - Fabio Cannavaro
Though him being my greatest rival (ask my Mrs) since Euro 2000, I have to applaud and salute him.. No question..

Late Bloomer (player) - Bastian Schweinsteiger
A scoring midfield whom failed to shine until their very last game.. His brace helped Germany to earn consolation 3rd placing medals..

Overrated (player) - Ronaldinho
I guessed it could be because he wanted to concentrate in advertising.. (read : Bola Breeze, ‘Jom main’)

Overrated (team) - England * as usual
‘We can win the World Cup without Rooney’, ‘We got the best team’, yada.. yada.. yada.. my ar$3.. needed an own goal against Paraguay, late goals against new comer Trinidad n Tobago, awful defending against Sweden, most boring knock-out stage game against Paraguay, and they talk about winning the cup.. heh.. in their dreams..

Stupidito award (single match)- Rooney & Zidane *join winner
Rooney may still be playing in the next world cup but for the Sifu Zidane, well.. He could’ve wrote a better ending of his outstanding career.. he’ll be missed..

Stupidito award (overall) - Sven Goran Ericsson
Hell what was he thinking bringing Theo Walcott (who?) into the team.. With Owen awkwardly twisted his knee, and Rooney’s dismissal, he had to settle with Crouch the Hantu Galah.. :))

Unlucky I - Lampard & Schevchenko *join winner
Lampard, chances after chances but still fail to hit the back of the net including shootouts against Portugal.. Schevchenko, for being a Ukrainian..

Unlucky XI - Spain
Won their first 3 group matches, led against the Frenchs.. ended in the losing side after 2 late goals.. afterall if they won, I dont think they have much things to do against Brazil.. but watch them out in Euro 2008/ WC2010..

Special Recognition - Bite your Finger award
Credited to Mr Limildo, led both Teamtalk and Yahoo McD fantasty league by merely 100 points over his nearest opponent, started bragging and went overconfident.. faded away by the K-O stages and lost both league to managers from ‘Selatan tanahair’.. hahahaha… eat that!!

Auf Wiedersehen, Germany 2006.. See you in South Africa in another 4 years..

Shortly after a Sournessless life at Newcastle, another great news received from St James’ Park.. 64 minutes played against London based team Charlton, Amoebi flicked a clever backheel through to Alan Shearer, the great number 9 made no mistake, slotted the ball under Addicks’ keeper Dean Kiely and hit the net at Gallowgate.. 5 Ringgit!! The striker went on proudly celebrating his goal with typical pose at Strawberry corner.. the record has been broken!! 201th goal for club.. passing the double century mark set-up by late ‘Wor Jackie’ Milburn back in the 50s..

Earlier on, Super Al was denied by Kiely after strings of attempts.. the former pounced a powerful header but blocked by keeper, N’Zogbia received the rebound and scored, 1-0..

2-0 the final score.. Newcastle first league win this year.. a well start by the caretaker and his assistant.. :D.. hope this good result will continue to survive the Premiership..

As for old Mr Shepherd.. he will have to think deep for permanent replacement to succeed caretaker Roeder.. make no mistake this time, or he’ll be the one who shd go.. As for the replacement, his first task would be to sign a new great number 9 as the current legend will hang his boot by the end of the season.. heh.. it took one 50 years to break the record.. wonder when the next one will be..

Hail the King
Hail the King

I arrived office exactly at 9am today.. managed to listen to Fly news on radio..

AT LAST.. the news i’ve waited for soooo long.. Newcastle United manager Graeme Sourness (sic) finally shown his exit door.. What took that old man Shepherd so damn long.. Late penalty missed by Villa’s Barry, last minute leveler by Clark while hosting Smoggies, Shearer scored his 200th goals against lowly Mansfield 10 minutes from time still kept Sourness his job but three losses (includes two at home) in a row, said it’s the end of the worst Newcastle AK (After Keegan) era..

Lets look at the Newcastle Premiership Managerial records..

Manager From To P W D L
Keegan n/a 01/97 143 78 30 35
Cox 01/97 08/98 1 0 1 0
Dalglish 01/97 08/98 56 19 19 18
Craig 01/97 08/98 1 0 0 1
Gullit 08/98 08/99 40 11 12 17
Clarke 08/99 08/99 1 0 0 1
Robson 09/99 08/04 188 83 51 54
Carver 09/04 09/04 1 1 0 0
Souness 09/04 02/06 56 16 17 23

Personally I think he is the worst ever.. worse that Gullit sexy football.. he offloaded potential players, keeps and added in more crappy players, failed to manage good-player-but-bad-temper-boys (Bellamy, Robert, Jenas, Dyer to name a few).. finished 14th last season, record worst in AK Premiership history, unable to hit the back of the net in first 4 games this season.. Shall I add more?? Yet, shortly after buying Owen, he targeted to finished for Europe..Haha.. Dream on.. Nuff said.. Game over Souness..

As for temporarily replacement, Glenn Roeder will be in caretaking the team, assist by current great number 9, Super Al.. Fighting for relegation is a more realistic target now (against Mackems & Smoggies, perhaps).. and hopefully, above 14 to make Souness the worst Newcastle (AK) manager.. All the best to the Magpies..

post note : From 14 place, Glenn Roeder took Magpies to finish at 7 place, and into UEFA cup through Intertoto.. job very well done..

Last Friday, my project’s society club organized an indoor treasure hunt located at One Utama New Wing. I took chance to involve although last treasure hunt i joined was many many years ago.. and it was school-boy standard treasure hunt where participants need to find clues hidden in certain areas.. Those clues will later drive to another location etc.. I never win such, mostly due to either clue got lost, somebody accidentally took others clue, or even worst when the clues got sabotaged etc.. heh.. school days..

However I know that for a standard treasure hunts, participants will be given all the clues at starting points and have to crack the clue and find a signboard etc that can be linked with the clue.. and along the way, buy treasure which can give a lot of points.. that’s how we played last friday.. organized by Huntmasters, it was a 2-hours hunting through 3 levels of One Utama New Wing.. phewwww.. luckily it wasn’t the whole One Utama..

Although Huntmasters said, all the questions were way much easier than the standard ones, still it cracked our heads out to think and find the answers.. Here are sample of questions.. something like this la.. (is it copyrighted?) Well.. highlight to find the answers..

1) Dispersed of load, can be found in Ronaldo’s place
    Answer : ALDO
2) Start of original equipment, mixed and made an ass
    Answer : DKNY
3) Exactly where you can find the core?
    Answer : Apple Center
4) Sounds like misquote?
    Answer : Ms. Read
5) Oriental fun you can find at Superbowl
Answer : Chee Cheong Fun @ Superbowl
6) Under the care of garment. So to speak?
    Answer : Wardrobe
Out of 15 questions, our team (Darayus, his wife Eileene, Stevie & I) missed out 3.. and emerged the overall winners.. hehe.. out of 6 teams only.. whatever.. as long as we got some shopping vouchers to be spent.. hehe.. now I’m a bit addicted of treasure hunting.. any regulars want to share any tips?
