Read this in The Star today..

Software secretly spies on SMSes

SINGAPORE: The eye-catching advertisement screams in its headline “How to Catch a Cheating Spouse” and promises all the evidence you will need to nail your straying partner.

The ad is for a “discreet and fail-safe” software program that will secretly forward all incoming and outgoing SMS messages from your partner’s phone to you.

Offered by one Jopca Solutions, it costs S$200 (RM460) to forward just incoming messages and double that if you want outgoing messages as well.

It takes mere minutes to download the software into the phone to be spied on and it leaves no trail – forwarded messages do not appear in the “Sent” folder.

Hahahaha.. good one for those paranoids out there..  but then..

Said lawyer Adrian Tan: “Anyone using or selling the software can be found guilty under the Telecommunications Act for the fraudulent retention of messages.”

Another lawyer said software users are also in breach of the Computer Misuse Act for installing software without the owner’s permission. If found guilty, users can be fined up to S$10,000 (RM23,000) or jailed up to three years, or both.

dont say that i didnt warn you.. :P

Cool! What am I talking about…VLOGGING!

From here,Video Blogging or vlogging as it has come to be known is simply the creation of RSS feeds containing video enclosures.
Vlogging has become increasingly popular, especially as tools (such asNewzAlert Composer) have become readily available and capable of supporting video and other rich media by way of enclosures within RSS.
As an example of the explosion of popularity, we need only look at the devastating Tsunami that hit Asia on 26 December 2004. In the wake of this natural disaster which killed thousands and made millions more homeless, video blogs sprang up with amateur video footage showing the enormous power of the waves.
With an enclosure aware RSS reader (aggregator) capable of downloading enclosures, vlogging allows the easy and widespread delivery of video via RSS.

We have blogging…we have..photoblogging…and now videoblogging

Cool is for the technology that we have now…

Check this out…for the first vlogging in Malaysia!

Good job to Asiastream TV…I do think that this is a brilliant idea!

I was in need for a home internet broadband so that i wont be spending my day working at the coffee shop whenever i need to..

Few ISPs come into my mine.. one needs me to have a fixed phone line which i dont have and really need, call the phone guy to fix my phone line, call the broadband guy to fix the thingy etc.. and the other, buy a terminal port, plug to my machine and voila.. you are ready to go.. ( actually there are few others but one is temporary suspended, one is not covering my area, and another is excessively expensive and can only be used with a notebook..)

And i chosed ISP number 2.. Jaring Wireless Broadband with a year long subscription..

I’ve been using it for over ‘the 7-days money-back guarantee’.. do i really satisfy? ermmm.. hard to say..

For internet browsing, it shouldnt be a problem..For a hardcore 24-7 broadband user, it still havent reach the expected standard.. I live in a condo, 8 floor high above the ground, about 500m from the building claimed to have the base station (transmitter) installed.. from my window/balcony (where I put my terminal), I can see the building standing tall.. still the connection is not that stable.. I’ve tested my download speed using http://www.testmy.net/ where I can get up to 0.7Mbps download rate which is not bad at all.. that’s the best case scenario..

The bad news.. sometime it could drop to less than 0.07Mbps.. my torrent downloading can only reach a max of 10-15kbps ; avarage rate would be 5kbps.. uThh.. hate that! i’ve tried to open a few applications at once; internet browser, YM, torrent & citrix connection.. only 3 apps at one time max, else the line will be dropped.. havent try it during rain though.. It will not be a good idea to have a WLAN in the house with this current situation..

I might need to switch the terminal location in order to get the best connection.. maybe it would help if we live in 31st floor..:p

All in all, still it is the best solution for my problem.. as long as I can get connected to citrix server, can check urgent mail, open SAP screen via citrix, that’s good enuff for me.. ;)

oh btw.. did i tell you, the terminal can be connected with a phone, and calls can be made on prepaid basis.. broadband and a phone line in one package.. cool huh?

Million thanks to Jaring for providing this service, but seriously.. you guys need to really keep up and perk up especially with raising numbers of users.. else.. you might lose one here..

I was thrilled when listening to radio advert on Webbit; now available in our living area. Webbit is a new broadband service which provides a hi-speed wireless data exchange. People will no longer dependant on fixed telephone line to access the internet. Such an interesting solution for us, living in a damn full with hanky panky condo. To bring any outside contractor for any installation need first to put down RM500 deposit; and must do during office hour. Furthermore, we don’t really need a fixed phone line.

So, I browsed thru their websites. Indeed, this is what we want. With monthly access fees of RM69 for unlimited 24-7 internet access, available only around our living area, we could dominate every inch of the broadband. hehe..

However the major setback -> Check on the requirements. This State-of-the-Art system only supports Windows OS, not others.. We are not a big fan of Bill Gates (nor Steve Jobs) but being system developers, we can foresee the needs of users.. In system development, we learned some basic factors needs to be fulfill.. naming a few :

-extensibility (able to support further enhancement),

-security (protected from unauthorized access),

-reliability (free from any error; robust),

-compatibility (ability to support multiple platforms environment) and

-portability (can be move to different platforms with minimal effort);

When you call yourself a State-of-the-Art people will expect even more. I dont think all Malaysian support Bill Gates. Those who prefer to use Mac and Linux being denied from using this service.

Maybe it is still new and there will be major improvement later on. Hope so. Coz I’m buying a Mac. Insyaallah.. Right dear?

A friend of mine ‘yahooed’ me on my opinion on ‘toothing’ / ‘bluejacking’.. WTF?? He asked me to google for it.. to my surprise seeing the results..

Quoted one of it :

Toothing - a form of anonymous sex with strangers - usually on some form of transport or enclosed area such as a conference or training seminar. ‘Toothers meet by first connecting suitable equipment - such as a modern phone or palmtop computer. Users ‘discover’ other computers or phones in the vicinity and then send a speculative message. The usual greeting is: ‘Toothing?’.

He came across this term while searching info on Bluetooth™.. He just got his BT phone last week.. I got mine months back.. never bump into these kind of stuff.. haha.. I’m that innocent, I guess..

I overheard a conversation between a group of people from another department in my office.. They are the one who prepare for tender with another company and currently they are preparing for a presentation to a goverment agency.. this govt agency set a condition which sounds something like this, “In order to bid for their tender, one must prepare their document, presentation etc in Bahasa Malaysia.. it is ok to speak in broken language.. but cannot in fully English..”

So, it was their biggest task to translate IT terms to BM such as ‘Antivirus’, ‘Computer bug’, ‘Worms’ etc…..

I was wondering

IF :

HARDWARE = BARANGKERAS;
SOFTWARE = BARANGLEMBUT;
JOYSTICK = BATANGRIA;
PLUG AND PLAY = CUCUK DAN MAIN;
PORT = LUBANG;
SERVER = PELAYAN;
CLIENT = PELANGGAN;

THEN :

“That server gives a plug and play service to the clients using either hardware or software joystick. The joystick goes into the port of the client.”

=

“PELAYAN itu beri kepada PELANGGANnya layanan CUCUK dan MAIN dengan mempergunakan BATANGRIA jenis BARANGKERAS atau BARANGLEMBUT. BARANGRIA itu dimasukkan ke dalam LUBANG PELANGGAN.”

ELSE… ???

p/s : These are just some basic terms, wait until u come across to Bluetooth(Gigi Biru), Handspring(Spring Tangan), Thumb Drive(Pemacu Ibu Jari), Screen Saver(Penyelamat Skrin?), FireWire(Dawai Api?), USB(Bas Bersiri Universal) etc..
